Following the adoption of the Open Access Policy in February 2016, the University Libraries and other campus partners have begun building infrastructure and workflows to support the success and sustainability of the Policy. The following is a proposed implementation plan for the Libraries' support of the Policy. The components of the plan are tentative and may be subject to change based on feedback from stakeholders.
OA Policy website (complete)
To house information and resources about the Policy, including an FAQ, submission form, waiver generator, support contacts, etc.
DigiNole Support Staff Training (ongoing)
Training library staff on submission review workflows, to build scalable support for processing faculty submissions
DigiNole repository development (ongoing)
New/enhanced functionality: altmetric integration, profile pages, readership reports, streamlined submission process, etc.
Creation of Open Access Advisory Board (complete)
High-level committee with broad representation, charged with oversight of Policy implementation and related initiatives
Notification letter sent to academic publishers (complete)
Notification to give legal force to OA Policy license, and to give publishers the opportunity to adapt their policies
Automated collection of bibliographic information for new articles (complete)
This implementation step will provide automated notifications to the DigiNole team of any new faculty scholarship being published
Automated harvesting of article manuscripts available in other open repositories (Spring 2018)
Expand the DigiNole collection and maintain a centralized collection by harvesting article manuscripts available in other open repositories
Research information management system (RIS) RFP (Spring 2018)
Issue a request-for-proposal for a research information management system that can be integrated with DigiNole
3-year review of OA Policy by Faculty Senate (Spring 2019)
After three years of the policy being in effect, the Faculty Senate Library Committee will review the policy and present a report on behalf of the Faculty Senate.
